Signs, Nudges, and Smacks from Spirit 4

Really, heaven isn’t so far away.

Quite frequently, I’m asked, “how is it we can tell when we have a visitor from Spirit?” I believe that it’s probably more rare to not have a visitor. For most of us, on special occasions or when we are not so overly-busy with life (and we can slow down to pay attention) our loved one’s will give us signs to let us know they are around. It’s not just all rainbows and doves either. I have, on occasion, had a few of those that were stunning and amazing though.

Just like every person is different, signs are usually specific to the individual or the relationship you shared. For some people, after I go, their sign may very well be a heavy flying rock that pummels them upside the head. Most signs are not going to be a flying rock or books flying off a shelf. I’m just being silly, um, kind of?

In my kitchen, where I generally sit as people visit for connections to the other-side, there’s a light fixture above the table. For well over 18 years, the lights would flash and flicker as I would connect. I never thought of asking them to stop or changed the light fixture. I knew what was going on. Light-bulbs were cheap, and it was fun. After all those years though, the fixture had had enough of the surges, and I have since asked, very kindly, that we no longer use the electricity in my home as a way to say hello. It’s just as easy to simply give me information. But yes, indeed, electricity is a very easy way to get our attention. Light switches are known to be turned on still though and that’s okay, as long as I’m awake to shut them off.

One of my favorite, “hello”, experiences was from a dear old friend that had a very clever sense of humor. That warm summer day, I sat in my office across the hall from our master bedroom. I was at my computer. My dear hubby had just mowed the lawn, and was in the master bedroom’s bathroom cleaning up. I cannot remember why now, but at the time, I had been very frustrated with him. I sat at my desk working and across from the other side of our upstairs I heard, “Hey stop it!”  Um, I wondered what was going on and yelled back “I am in my office! You okay?” I was not too concerned as he sounded mad like I was playing yet another practical joke on him. “Let go of the door!” Again, “Um, I’m sitting at my desk!”  I hollered across the hall again, “Try unlocking it, dork!!!” Then he insisted it wasn’t locked. “Come on, just let go of the door!” At that point I look over, and I know, it’s not me doing anything! Oh dear, I get a sense of what’s up and start giggling. Okay, I know that’s not nice. Yup, okay, I got the message, you can let him out now. That was crazy! Yeah, my bud had been holding onto the door, like, I’ve got your back. He knew I wouldn’t be afraid and get the message, “You had my back, now I have your’s even if it’s to make you have a laugh.” So, yes, they can manipulate our surroundings. How my 6′ tall over 200 pound hubby ever thought I could out muscle him, I’ll never understand though.

Spirits usually say hello in more subtle ways with music, and the radio for example. You know you’ve had this happen. Remembering that you never changed the channel on the radio, but somehow it’s switched AM radio, and the Cubs can be heard as they finish the last inning of a game. Only that one special friend loved the Cubs. You’re thinking of someone special, and a song comes on that they loved or has a significant memory attached.

Just recently, I was watching TV, and heard an old song, “I’m Looking Over a 4-leafed Clover.” My dad sang it with his choir, I new instantly to get my shoes on and get over to my mom, something wasn’t right. Not two minutes later an ambulance driver telephoned me. Rather than me being at home in my pj’s, I was in the driveway and beat them the ambulance to my mother’s home.

How did I connect the dots? Well, I know my dad’s #1 is my mom, and he’s not contacting me late at night after I’ve had a glass of Merlot for no reason.

Another more subtle but amazing way we get a hello from heaven, is the occasional visitation dream. They are vivid, in color, and you will never ever forget it. In fact, thinking back, those dreams are easy to recall in vivid detail, even after serveral years. After my dear dog, “Cinder” had died, I prayed and prayed for a hello from her. I didn’t get to say goodbye, and I was heartbroken. She was my running pal, and dearest companion all thorough high school and early college years. It took so long, then finally, I found myself in a technicolor dream standing in the backyard where I grew up. I see my six-foot plus tall brother standing before me (He had died back in 1977) He looked the same as I had remembered, including things of him I sadly had forgotten. The same voice, So much like our father’s. “Don’t worry about her, I’ve got her, she’s right here!” I look to his side and there running around the trees is Cinder the grey, shaggy dog, I had missed so much. I still remember the large tree, standing in the back corner of the yard and the telephone pole she peeked around. I also remember trying to go in for a big hug, and not being able to before my physical body decided to wake up. That dream was probably 35 years ago. It is a memory vivid in my mind, even more than the memory of what I ate for lunch today.

Know that for these visitations in dreams to occur, you have to be already rested. Don’t expect to not sleep for weeks and have an empty, “sleep bank”, and recall your dreams. I regularly tell people to simply ask, before going to sleep, and have something to write with or record your dreams upon awakening, and be patient. People on the other-side have lives too. (That’s an entirely other topic!)

Animals will visit us, if we are open to it. Oh animals, we love them so much! I cannot imagine life without them, but when they go, it takes a piece of my heart along with them. One beautiful fall day, I came home and as I pulled into the driveway, in the large bay window, I saw one of my labs looking out of the window. peaking out behind the shear drape, my dog is standing there anxious for me to walk inside. I instantly freak out wondering what in the house has been eaten. Crap, hubby had forgotten to put the dogs in their kennels. I imagined there’s going to be garbage strewn all over the house, couches eaten, and maybe if I’m lucky the table is still standing. Destructo-Labradors have literally eaten siding off the house, so nothing would shock me. I webt into my home, and heard the usual loud bark greetings. Oddly both dogs were in their separate side-by-side kennels begging to be let out. Now, these were both very clever dogs, but neither was able to use their paws to unlock and re-lock themselves inside kennels. I had a friend and witness with me at the time, (a police officer) and this person saw the dog looking out of the window as clearly as I had. Stated witness later called to see how much of a cleanup it was.

I have had some of the most interesting hello’s from my dear animal friends. It’s just a matter of asking and receiving. That dog seen, was a hello from my beloved dog, Charlie. He was another Chocolate Labrador that I had wanted a hello from very badly. It wasn’t until I had stopped mourning him, and purchased his nephew, after a long search, and another Chocolate Lab, that he finally showed up and I was open to seeing him. It was quite the shock when it finally occurred.

As I write this, I can honestly state that I have been blessed with hello’s from almost every single one of my fur-babies (and that’s a lot of critters!), I await just one. I know it’s because I still mourn her too much. My dear Kylie Koyote, I know she is fine, and that she is around; when I’m ready, I’ll see her again.

Another type of afterlife communication is what I refer to as the regular ole saaaa-mack upside the head of messages. We all get these. The quick thought out of nowhere.

Just riding my bike in the park, I hear, “Why on earth are you not wearing a helmet?” Then up ahead, I hit a patch of thick sand. The bike swerves, even with its think mountain bike tires. It was close call. I quickly forgot the question that I had heard in my head just prior to the near-miss. Then the following week, I go to grab my well-loved purple Trek, and I hear, “Helmet? Oh dear, no I’ll go slow around that sand pit.” Then, “NO! Grab your helmet, if you like your brain.” I was having this argument going on in my head, I’ve ridden my bike since five without one, it’s not a horse, I’ve never fallen! So, out of respect for said inner-voice, I grab the stupid hair destroying ugly-ass helmet.

This is just a small inner voice that comes out of nowhere. This is an example how this conversation goes:

1) You hear a quiet inner voice, giving you a direction. “Don’t lock your keys in the car.”

2) You’re in too much of a hurry to bother, slam your car door shut. Keys are on the seat of your car.

3) You call a locksmith.

-Thank God for key fobs-

There are obviously many other stories, so close to my heart I don’t wish to share. Spirit is always with us, for me this isn’t a, “belief” it’s a fact. Here’s a short list of other ways they say hello, I’m praying for you now so that you’ll be open to receiving them too. My goal is that this is a factual part of life for everyone.

*Apparitions, yes full-body and partially. Nobody wants to scare you, however, so unless you are ready psychologically, they will not occur usually.

*Noises, whistles, sounds

*Flying objects off shelves etc. Pay attention to what exactly when flying.

*Smells: perfume, smoke, food smells

*Found items: jewelry, dimes, pennies, feathers (esp. white)

*Ringing or popping ears

*Feeling of vertigo, sudden anxiety, weird feelings in the air.

*Repeating numbers

*Feeling like someone is with you

*Peripheral vision black or sparkling spots (orbs)

Obviously, make sure you don’t have a health issue with some of those, and trust what you are feeling in regards to whom it is. Connect the dots so to speak.

I would so much love to hear some of your stories of visits too. Please share below if you have one!

I remember passing time in an airport and being drawn into one of those tie and scarf shops, which I’d never go it normally. I spotted a silk scarf which was exactly like one I’d bought my grandmother, who had since passed, years before. That very moment I got the strongest smell of her perfume Coty L’Aimant and there was no one else around. I just knew it was her. It was the first time I ever noticed a sign and the only time ever from her.

Oh Kirsten, thank you so much for sharing this story. It’s so reassuring when we get them and they are always such gifts!
